Located in the West End neighborhood of DC, Thai Kitchen is a true diamond in the rough! There are many Thai and Malaysian restaurants on M Street on the West End and near Dupont Circle. Despite the fierce competition, I believe Thai Kitchen is hands down the best Thai restaurant on the West End/Dupont Circle area — if not all of DC.
From the outside, Thai Kitchen looks like a hole in the wall type of place [see picture]. You’ll have to walk down a 1/2 flight of stairs to get into the restaurant (it’s like a semi-basement). Once you’re inside the restaurant, you’ll see a nice long bar with a few TVs and a comfortable dining atmosphere. The most important part is the food. I’ve tried many authentic curry dishes and the usual Pad Thai, and they are all authentic and great!
Thai Kitchen is located across the street from the Westin Grand on M Street where I used to spend my Monday’s to Thursday’s for business. Since Thai Kitchen closes at around 10PM (some times earlier if they’re not too busy), it has provided me a great dining option besides room service. The Fairmont Hotel is also around the corner from Thai Kitchen on 24th Street. Here’s a link to the Thai Kitchen menu as the hotels do not have it.
